Halloween isn’t just a day in Chicago: it’s a month-long celebration for both kids and adults alike. Festivities aren’t just limited to trick-or-treating, but also parades and parties. Here’s a list of the best Halloween events in downtown Chicago, both paid and free!

For the Family

Halloween is one of the kids’ favorite holidays, perhaps because of the ridiculous amount of candy at stake. Take the opportunity to bond with your young ones at these Halloween events.

Kids can enjoy a concert by Sarah Jayne Lane, pizza, and lots of playtime. Be sure to bring them in their best costumes, as TK Photography will be there to capture the moment. Tickets cost $35 for a child and adult pair, $20 for each additional child and $7 for each additional adult. For more information, you can visit their website.

Arts in the Dark

Grant Park

One of the most anticipated activities in Chicago, Arts in the Dark brings the city’s most diverse community in one awesome nighttime parade. The festivities happen on October 21, with pre-parade activities starting at 4pm, and live music, floats and giant puppets to look forward to. The event is free to attend.

Halloween at Navy Pier

Navy Pier

There is so much to look forward to for Halloween at Navy Pier. There are free movie screenings (Monsters Inc and Ghostbusters on October 21st, and Beetlejuice and Monster House on October 28th), trick or treating, a haunted maze and a fireworks show on the 28th. Haunted Halloween Ball

Godfrey Haunted Hotel

127 W Huron St

On October 28th, the Godfrey Hotel in River North transforms into a haunted hotel. The whole 5th floor will be occupied by ghosts and ghouls, and if you are brave enough to make it past the creeps, you will be granted admission to the Halloween party up on the I|O rooftop lounge, where you can get a scary makeover, join the creepy celebrations, and drink petrifying potions until 3am.

Superhero & Super Villain Halloween Soiree

108 E Superior St

The Peninsula Chicago offers a halloween party sans the spook with the Superhero & Super Villain Halloween Soiree, which happens on October 28. Arrive in your best costume for the chance to win a dinner for two at any of The Lobby, a membership at The Spa and an overnight stay at the hotel.
